Kathellan, privately owned by Katherine Melton-Scott and Ian Maclellan, boasts a delicatessen, food hall, sweetie shop, wines and spirits, a bookstore, jewellery, crafts, gifts and a 150 seat restaurant. Set in 25 acres of farmland, Kathellan Farm Park is a recent addition to the business, hosting rare breeds from around the UK. During the Fine Food and Gift Festival, there are celebrity chef cookery demonstrations, tasters, bakery schools for children, sheep shearing and goat washing!

The Merchant City Festival is back for it seventh year in 2008. The Festival attracts more than 40,000 people over the four day bank holiday weekend to an exciting programme of theatre, music, fashion, visual art, film and comedy with over 200 performances, many free of charge, that span over 50 venues in Glasgow’s architecturally stunning cultural quarter.

Once again the festival will be celebrating the country's fine food and drink traditions with an exciting and mouthwatering programme. Last year's highlights included one of Glenkinchie Distillery's infamous ceilidhs, the ever popular Haddington Farmers' Market, a Family Food and Fun Day at Dirleton Castle and the North Berwick Slow Food Fair.

Set in the spectacular grounds of Cawdor Castle, the event, which this year (2008) takes place on Saturday 27th September from 10am – 5pm, is fully supported by the Soil Association Scotland, the Highlands and Islands Organic Association, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the Slow Food Movement. Wonderful organic food stalls will be complemented by top local chefs who will convert the food that is on sale into delicious taster lunches. All this will be supported by a programme of food and drink lectures and live music. Following the spectacular success in 2007, Rob Gibson MSP, tabled in the Scottish Parliament "that the Parliament congratulates the organisers of the second Living Food Festival, that the Parliament notes the rising demand for local and organic produce that is providing an increased income for a growing cluster of dedicated farmers and growers and that the Parliament praises the collaboration between Cawdor Castle and the Soil Association and Slow Food Highlands for whetting the public's appetite for healthy, tasty, local food and drink every week in the year.
